* alpm-hooks: add Description fieldAllan McRae2015-12-15
| | | | | | | | | The "Description" field allows a hook to provide a some text for frontends to use in describing what the hook is doing. For example: Description = updating info page directory Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Show progress processing hooksAllan McRae2015-12-15
| | | | | | | Introduces the ALPM_EVENT_HOOK_RUN_{START,DONE} events that are triggered at the start and end of running an individual hook. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add ALPM_EVENT_TRANSACTION_{START,DONE} eventsAllan McRae2015-12-15
| | | | | | | | This provides a way to detect when the processing of package changes starts, allowing pacman to delineate hook output and package installation/removal output. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add events ALPM_EVENT_HOOK_{START,DONE}Olivier Brunel2015-12-15
| | | | | | | Add events to let frontends know when hooks are being processed (and when it's done), as that might be useful to update the UI. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com>
* add and expose alpm_unlockAndrew Gregory2015-12-05
| | | | | | | | | alpm_unlock is a limited version of alpm_release that does nothing but the actual unlinking of the lock file and is therefore safe to call from signal handlers. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>

| | | | Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* remove support for .pacorig filesAndrew Gregory2015-01-21
| | | | | | | | Leave user files in place and save new config files with a .pacnew extension. This reduces the complexity of file extraction and respects the principle that pacman shouldn't modify files it didn't create. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com>
* conf.c: use masks for siglevel inheritanceAndrew Gregory2015-01-21
| | | | | | | | This will allow pacman to parse its config file in a single pass and removes the need for the *_SET siglevels in alpm that were only required for pacman's siglevel inheritance. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com>
* libalpm: Add accessors for the base fieldJohannes Löthberg2014-12-24
| | | | | | | | This commit adds the necessary accessor functions to get the PKGBASE of a package, forcing the desc file to be parsed. Signed-off-by: Johannes Löthberg <johannes@kyriasis.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>

| | | | | | This allows to ignore specific dependencies. Signed-off-by: Florian Pritz <bluewind@xinu.at>
* libalpm: export alpm_splitdep as alpm_dep_from_depstring and alpm_dep_freeFlorian Pritz2014-09-30
| | | | Signed-off-by: Florian Pritz <bluewind@xinu.at>
* Revert "Remove log_cb, add ALPM_EVENT_LOG instead"Andrew Gregory2014-09-30
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Moving logging to the event callback caused warnings under clang due to non-literal format strings and silenced all log messages when --print was used. This reverts commit cd793c5ab7689cc8cbc18277375b368060e5acfe. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Conflicts: lib/libalpm/alpm.h src/pacman/callback.c Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* alpm.h: remove outdated pkg_get_backup doxygenAndrew Gregory2014-09-23
| | | | | | | | alpm_pkg_get_backup hasn't returned strings since 54ef162a1a9e27e362732d873f0739bc0a2cf1bf in 2011. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* handle: factor out string list option handlingAndrew Gregory2014-08-04
| | | | | | | | | | | Consolidates repeated code and replaces dangerous strdup calls with STRDUP. Also fix a couple variables named "pkg" that refer to file paths. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* events: Make alpm_event_t an union of all event-specific structOlivier Brunel2014-06-24
| | | | | Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Update the question callbackOlivier Brunel2014-06-24
| | | | | | | | | | | | Much like with events, instead of using a bunch of void* arguments for all questions, we now send one pointer to an alpm_question_t union. This contains the type of question that was triggered. With this information, a question-specific struct can be accessed in order to get additional arguments. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* alpm.h: Move alpm_errno_t definition upOlivier Brunel2014-06-24
| | | | | | | | | | | Because for the new question types, we'll need to use alpm_errno_t let's move its definition up. Of course to do so, we also need to move that of alpm_handle_t as well, so move all opaque structures on top. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add events on pacnew/pacsave/pacorig file creationOlivier Brunel2014-03-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | ALPM still adds a warning to the log, but doesn't emit an event about said warning, instead using a specific event to let the frontend what happened/how to inform the user. Note that there are 2 cases for installing a .pacnew file, to not overwrite user changes and because file is in NoUpgrade. In the later case the warning was a bit different: it happened before and said "extracting" instead of "installed." Now both happen after and are phrased the same. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add events _PKGDOWNLOAD_{START, DONE, FAILED}Olivier Brunel2014-03-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These will be emmitted when download a package file from a repository, indicating that the download starts, and whether it was successfull or not. Note that when multiple servers are available, no event is emmitted when switching to another server. (This doesn't apply to alpm_fetch_pkgurl(), but since it is called by the frontend, it shouldn't have problems knowing when the download starts and when it ends.) Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add events ALPM_EVENT_RETRIEVE_{DONE, FAILED}Olivier Brunel2014-03-03
| | | | | | | | | To go along with RETRIEVE_START, one other event will be emmitted once the downloads are done: RETRIEVE_DONE if all files were successfully downloaded, else RETRIEVE_FAILED. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Remove log_cb, add ALPM_EVENT_LOG insteadOlivier Brunel2014-03-03
| | | | | | | | When ALPM emits a log message, it still goes through _alpm_log() but instead of calling a specific log callback, it goes as an event. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Update the event callbackOlivier Brunel2014-03-03
| | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of using two void* arguments for all events, we now send one pointer to an alpm_event_t struct. This contains the type of event that was triggered. With this information, the pointer can then be typecasted to the event-specific struct in order to get additional arguments. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* alpm: export *_free functionsAndrew Gregory2014-02-04
| | | | | | | Front-ends should be able to free memory that alpm hands them. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Remove ts and sw from vim modeline when noet is setFlorian Pritz2014-01-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | Forcing vim users to view files with a tabstop of 2 seems really unnecessary when noet is set. I find it much easier to read code with ts=4 and I dislike having to override the modeline by hand. Command run: find . -type f -exec sed -i '/vim.* noet/s# ts=2 sw=2##' {} + Signed-off-by: Florian Pritz <bluewind@xinu.at> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Rename ALPM_EVENT_OPTDEP_REQUIRED to _OPTDEP_REMOVALOlivier Brunel2014-01-28
| | | | | | | | Because this event is triggered when an optdepend for another package is being removed. Signed-off-by: Olivier Brunel <jjk@jjacky.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Update copyright years for 2014Allan McRae2014-01-06
| | | | Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Fix whitespace and other formatting issuesJason St. John2013-11-15
| | | | | | | | | This commit: -- replaces space-based indents with tabs per the coding standards -- removes extraneous whitespace (e.g. extra spaces between function args) -- adds missing braces for a one-line if statement Signed-off-by: Jason St. John <jstjohn@purdue.edu>
* Expose alpm_pkg_should_ignoreAllan McRae2013-10-31
| | | | | | | This function is useful for frontends to annotate package upgrades that will be ignored. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Make functions to decode a signature and extract keyid publicAllan McRae2013-10-31
| | | | | | These are useful for frontends. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* libalpm: introduce a usage level for reposDave Reisner2013-09-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This defines a level of interest a user has in a repository. These are described by the bitmask flags in the alpm_db_usage_t enum: ALPM_DB_USAGE_SEARCH: repo is valid for searching ALPM_DB_USAGE_INSTALL: repo is valid for installs (e.g. -S pkg) ALPM_DB_USAGE_UPGRADE: repo is valid for sysupgrades ALPM_DB_USAGE_ALL: all of the above are valid Explicitly listing the contents of a repo will always be valid, and the repo will always be refreshed appropriately on sync operations. Signed-off-by: Dave Reisner <dreisner@archlinux.org> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* alpm_filelist: remove resolved_pathAndrew Gregory2013-06-03
| | | | | Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Improve error message when package is missing required signatureAllan McRae2013-05-29
| | | | | | | | | | | When attempting to install a package (either via -S or -U) and the signature is missing, the current error message "invalid or corrupted package (PGP signature)" is very unclear. Instead inform the user that the package is missing the required signature. Partial fix for FS#34741. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Remove ALPM_QUESTION_LOCAL_NEWERConnor Behan2013-04-24
| | | | | | | | | Remove a question that hasn't been used since the 3.0 days. To prevent us from having an ugly enum of questions that is missing a bitmask, this changes the API of the hidden --ask option. Signed-off-by: Connor Behan <connor.behan@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* make status/log messages reflect version changeSimon Gomizelj2013-03-10
| | | | | | | | | Currently pacman either prints 'adding' or 'upgrading' when installing a package. This make pacman print and log the other possible actions: 'downgrade' and 'reinstall' Signed-off-by: Simon Gomizelj <simongmzlj@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* use resolved_path for filelist_containsAndrew Gregory2013-02-24
| | | | | | | | | | | alpm_filelist_contains was being used to search for resolved paths, but searching in the unresolved paths, causing it to miss matches. We always search unresolved paths and search the resolved paths if available because _alpm_filelist_resolve is not public and requires a context handle, so it can't be called from alpm_filelist_contains. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* fix alpm_validation_t commentAndrew Gregory2013-02-16
| | | | | Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add format attributes to all required functionsAllan McRae2013-02-13
| | | | | | | | | Fixes all clang warnings with -Wformat-literal. Also, fix genuine formating issue discovered once adding these attributes and add a cast to prevent a gcc warning. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Check keys are in keyring before package validationAllan McRae2013-02-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | Keys used to create signatures are checked for presence in the keyring before package validation is performed. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org> Conflicts: lib/libalpm/alpm.h Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Add configuration option for Upgrade operation SigLevelAllan McRae2013-02-07
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Add LocalFileSigLevel and RemoteFileSigLevel to control the signature checking for "pacman -U <file>" and "pacman -U <url>" operations respectively. The starting value for both these options is SigLevel, if it is specified in the [options] section, or the built-in system default. The specified values override and/or supplement this initial value. Note there is no distinction between setting "Required" and "PackageRequired" as there are no database options for Upgrade operations. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* add caller prefix to alpm_logactionAndrew Gregory2013-01-28
| | | | | | | prefix defaults to "UNKOWN" if null or an empty string is provided. Signed-off-by: Andrew Gregory <andrew.gregory.8@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Update copyright year for 2013Allan McRae2013-01-03

* Add public functions for accessing mtree dataAllan McRae2012-12-14
| | | | Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Do not warn about missing database if being downloadedAllan McRae2012-12-14
| | | | | | | | | When a configured repo database is not already downloaded, a warning message such as "warning: database file for 'testing' does not exist" is printed. Disable this warning when the database is scheduled to be downloaded in the transaction. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
* Make alpm_pkg_find publicAllan McRae2012-12-14
| | | | | | This function is particularly useful, so make it public. Signed-off-by: Allan McRae <allan@archlinux.org>
