* ALPM API adjustments for sanity and consistencyDan McGee2012-02-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This makes several small adjustments to our exposed method names, and in one case, parameters. The justification here is to make methods less odd in their naming convention. If a method takes an alpm_db_t argument, the method should be named 'alpm_db_*', but perhaps more importantly, if it doesn't take a database as the first parameter, it should not. Summary of changes: alpm_db_register_sync -> alpm_register_syncdb alpm_db_unregister_all -> alpm_unregister_all_syncdbs alpm_option_get_localdb -> aplpm_get_localdb alpm_option_get_syncdbs -> aplpm_get_syncdbs alpm_db_readgroup -> alpm_db_get_group alpm_db_set_pkgreason -> alpm_pkg_set_reason All methods keep the same argument list except for alpm_pkg_set_reason; there we drop the 'handle' argument as it can be retrieved from the passed in package object. * include config.h via MakefilesDave Reisner2011-12-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ensures that config.h is always ordered correctly (first) in the includes. Also means that new source files get this for free without having to remember to add it. We opt for -imacros over -include as its more portable, and the added constraint by -imacros doesn't bother us for config.h. This also touches the HACKING file to remove the explicit mention of config.h as part of the includes. * Remove alpm_list_getdata wrapper functionDan McGee2011-10-12
| | | | | | | This one is pretty darn useless. Just derefence the ->data attribute since the type is public anyway and save yourself the function call. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* Require handle argument to all alpm_option_(get|set)_*() methodsDan McGee2011-06-09
| | | | | | | | This requires a lot of line changes, but not many functional changes as more often than not our handle variable is already available in some fashion. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>
* Header inclusion cleanupDan McGee2011-04-20
| | | | | | | | This does touch a lot of things, and hopefully doesn't break things on other platforms, but allows us to also clean up a bunch of crud that no longer needs to be there. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>
* Style change: return(x) --> return xDan McGee2011-03-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This was discussed and more or less agreed upon on the mailing list. A huge checkin, but if we just do it and let people adjust the pain will end soon enough. Rebasing should be relatively straighforward for anyone that sees conflicts; just be sure you use the new return style if possible. The following semantic patch was used to do the change, along with some hand-massaging in order to preserve parenthesis where appropriate: The semantic match that finds this problem is as follows, although some hand-massaging was done in order to keep parenthesis where appropriate: (http://coccinelle.lip6.fr/) // <smpl> @@ expression a; @@ - return(a); + return a; // </smpl> A macros_file was also provided with the following content: Additional steps taken, mainly for ASSERT() macros: $ sed -i -e 's#return(NULL)#return NULL#' lib/libalpm/*.c $ sed -i -e 's#return(-1)#return -1#' lib/libalpm/*.c Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* Read pkgcache into hashAllan McRae2011-02-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | Read the package information for sync/local databases into a pmpkghash_t structure. Provide a alpm_db_get_pkgcache_list() method that returns the list from the hash object. Most usages of alpm_db_get_pkgcache are converted to this at this stage for ease of implementation. Review whether these are better accessing the hash table directly at a later stage. * pacman/deptest: reimplement with alpm_find_satisfierXavier Chantry2010-12-12
| | | | | | | | | It's very easy to re-implement the -T feature with the more generic alpm_find_satisfier rather then the more specific and less useful alpm_deptest. Signed-off-by: Xavier Chantry <chantry.xavier@gmail.com> Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* Move the deptest code from frontend to backend.Chantry Xavier2008-01-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The deptest code (pacman -T) used by makepkg was mostly in the frontend. There were 2 drawbacks: 1) the public splitdep function returns a pmdepend_t struct, but the _alpm_dep_free function for freeing it is private. So there was a memleak. 2) there is a helper in the backend (satisfycmp in deps.c) which makes this function much easier. So this adds a new public alpm_deptest in libalpm/deps.c, which cleans pacman_deptest in pacman/deptest.c a lot. Besides, alpm_splitdep was made private, because the frontend no longer requires it, and _alpm_dep_free is also private. Finally the deptest001 pactest was extended. * Clean up usage of extern variablesDan McGee2007-11-04
| | | | | | | | Instead of declaring the extern variable in every *.c file, include it in the header file that makes sense. This means handle.h for the handle, and conf.h for the pacman side config object. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* Cleanup of pacman_deptest()Andrew Fyfe2007-07-10
| | | | | | | | Clean up some left over code from http://projects.archlinux.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=pacman.git;a=commitdiff;h=7653bb93997f52848b54ab80868cd6da52808a75 Signed-off-by: Andrew Fyfe <andrew@neptune-one.net> Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>
* Change the exit code for pacman_deptest().Andrew Fyfe2007-07-09
| | | | | | | | Changed the exit code for missing deps from 1 to 127 because 1 is used for other errors. makepkg breaks if pacman exits with 1 for any reason other than a missing dep. Signed-off-by: Andrew Fyfe <andrew@neptune-one.net>

* Remove output.c and output.hDan McGee2007-04-26

* Remove MSG output macro (#define and in code)Dan McGee2007-04-26
| | | | | | | | This is the first step of converting output to standard functions such as printf, and eventually allowing compiliation with the -pedantic flag as is done on the libalpm side. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* Remove more unnecessary stuffDan McGee2007-04-25
| | | | | | | | | * Remove libintl.h from most files, as we only need to include it once in util.h where _() is defined. * Remove other unnecessary header inclusions. * Remove a macro that was only used once and replaced it with actual code. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>
* Merge single-function header files on pacman sideDan McGee2007-04-25
| | | | | | | Having a seperate header file for add, remove, query, etc. seemed overkill. Merge them all into a common pacman.h and fix the necessary #includes. Signed-off-by: Dan McGee <dan@archlinux.org>

* * Two fixes when running under a new root (-r|--root)Aaron Griffin2007-03-09
| | | | | | | | | - Check EACCES in can_remove_file, to verify - we're only checking for a read-only FS here... if write permissions fail, we can still remove it - Switched the message when creating DB directories from an error to a debug message * Fix the dep tests once and for all (it wasn't working for provides=() packages)
* * Mark a function as static that is only used in deptest.c.Dan McGee2007-03-07

* * Bug fix for makepkg dependency testing. This requires that weAaron Griffin2007-03-07
| | | | | expose alpm_splitdep and alpm_depcmp as public symbols * Removed a duplicate strtrim for question responses
* This commit looks much more monumental than it is. Almost all just #includeDan McGee2007-03-05
| | | | | | | | reordering and adding ones that were forgotten (noticed when trying to compile after reordering). * Updated the HACKING file to include information on #include usage. * print -> vprint in "making dir" function in pactest.
* * pacman hidden arguments: removed -Y and -D. -T is the only hidden arg now, toAaron Griffin2007-02-26
| | | | | | | | be used in place of -Y. Also, -D was rather silly, as it does mostly what -S does. * Cleaned up pacman_deptest - removed the goofy faketarget stuff (NEEDS testing still) * libalpm function renames
* * Removed the 'vercmp' op from pacman. The standalone 'vercmp' binary should beAaron Griffin2007-02-12
| | | | | used instead * Allow -T/--deptest to work without root privileges
* Debug logging changes:Aaron Griffin2007-01-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | * The --debug params were goofy. New setup allows --debug without params, --debug=<level> where level 1=debug output, 2=debug and download output, 3=debug, download, and function tracing output. This seems more sane to me. * Removed PM_LOG_FLOW1 and PM_LOG_FLOW2. They were just confusing. When adding new functions, it is near impossible to determin if your output should be "flow1" or "flow2" without tracking all the way up the call chain. Rarely would one ever say "ok, lets just show "flow2" output. These have both been replaced with PM_LOG_DEBUG * Removed the need for the root parameter on alpm_initialize. it is now defaulted to PM_ROOT just like dbpath and cachedir. This allows alpm to be initialized BEFORE option parsing in the front end, saving us some duplicate variables in the frontend. * Cleaned up front end variables due to early alpm_initialize call.
* * Shuffled some of the alpm_list free funtions - still not perfect, but betterAaron Griffin2007-01-24
| | | | | | | | | | * Added alpm_list_remove_node for single list node removal * Proper error checking/output for failed db_read/db_write (missing files) * Invalid packages (missing files) are now removed from the package cache * -Qs and -Ss output now look the same * config.rpath causes errors on one machine I had, so I added it to CVS * Fixed a "clobbered memory" issue when installing groups - only the outer list should be free'd, not the contained data
* This mainly deals with code clarity- removing currently unneededAaron Griffin2007-01-24
| | | | | | | | | | optimizations in order to make the code much more readable and type-checkable. Every enum in the library now has it's own type that should be used instead of the generic 'unsigned char'. In addition, several #define statements dealing with constants were converted to enums. * Preliminary checkin for alpm_list conversionAaron Griffin2007-01-19
| | | | | | | | | * renamed pmlist_t -> alpm_list_t * made alpm_list_t a public type (alpm_list.h header) * removed additional storage for registered DBs in pacman source * some code cleanup * removed duplicate (pm)list_display functions from pacman source * misc code cleanup
* * Completed getinfo api changes (pmmissing_t, pmtrans_t, etc)Aaron Griffin2006-11-22
| | | | | | | | * Modified some dependancy checking * Changed "performing local database upgrade" message to be more clear * Change 'usize' to 'isize' in database files * Scriptlet output is now sent to pacman's log file * Limited some debugging output to be more clear
* * repo-add script - to add entries to a db file directly from package data ↵Aaron Griffin2006-11-20
| | | | | | | | | | (no PKGBUILD) * libalpm api changes - move from a _getinfo(p, WHAT_WE_WANT) scheme to a typesafe _get_what_we_want(p) scheme [not 100% complete yet] * some const correctness changes * removal of PM_* types in alpm.h in favor of the pm*_t types used throughout libalpm
